– Microarray BeadArray technology is based on 3 micron silica particles that self-assemble in microwells on one of two substrates: fiber bundles or flat silica pads. When randomly assembled on either of these substrates, the particles were evenly spaced ~5.7 microns. Each bead is covered with hundreds of thousands of copies of a specific oligonucleotide that acts as paired sequences in an Illumina experiment.
-The BeadArray Microarray technology is developed on one of two multi-sample array formats for DNA or RNA analysis applications. With multi-sample BeadChip formats, sync wells are etched onto the surface of each substrate to a depth of approximately 3 microns prior to docking. The particles are then randomly assembled and held in the microwells by Van der Waals forces and hydrostatic interactions with the walls of the well.
-Microarray is the ideal technique for examining thousands of samples to identify point mutations, structural variations or changes in gene expression and methylation. Illumina’s microarray offers many advantages such as:
Reliable data quality
Widely applied globally, enhancing collaboration and promoting research
Detection of chromosomal alterations and copy number variants (CNV) polymorphism
Drive scalable workflows for large studies, including population-scale genotyping
Integration with the Illumina sequencing system for multi-omics analysis
Flexible content
Source management, tracking and traceability tools are formed.
