Biomedic accompanied with “Science and Technology 35th Workshop”

On 30th March 2018, Science and Technology 35th Workshop held by Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy was an annual workshop with the attendance of many agencies in the fields of medicine, clinical diagnosis and biotechnology. Biomedic was one of the sponsors of this event.

The workshop included 271 reports, general reports and continuing medical education (CME) of scientists working and teaching in this university. In the framework of the workshop,  Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology reported on CME which was added to the content of the workshop, especially “ The application of next-generation sequencing in inherited cancers diagnosis and detection” reported by doctor Nguyen Hoai Nghia. In the report, doctor Nguyen Hoai Nghia mentioned NGS technology from Illumina (US) supporting effectively and accurately in diagnosing and early detecting inherited cancers which accounts for 90% sequencing database in the whole world.

Meanwhile, doctor Nguyen Hoai Nghia demonstrated clinical validity of inherited cancer screening:

  • Support cancer prevention and intervention effectively (as early detection and treatment)
  • Realize the cause of inherited cancers in family members
  • Avoid unnecessary intervention for family members without mutation.
  • Reduce treatment cost

Biomedic joined the event with a booth and introduced next-generation sequencing technology of Illumina, the application on cancer research and reproductive health care, attracting attention of doctors, researchers, etc. from hospitals, clinics, testing and researching centres.
