4th IVF Updating Conference

An annual event organized by Hanoi Society of Assisted Reproduction for embryology professionals, assisted reproduction doctors, and lab technician. The 4th IVF Updating with the theme “Timelapse and NiPGT in day 5 embryo” at Lotte Hotel Hanoi on December 7th with the presence of medical professionals, representatives from assisted reproduction units from all over the country. The Hanoi Society of Assisted Reproduction was created on February 28th, 2019 with the purpose to assist diagnosis and curing infertility, sub-fertility in Hanoi as well as over the country. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tao is the president, and the members are also key figures in obstetrics field in Vietnam right now.

In 2019, IVF already had 3 conferences with some of the hot topics:

• 1st IVF Updating: 5th day embryo
• 2nd IVF Updating: PGT and choosing embryo transfer PGT
• 3rd IVF Updating: elements that will affect the success of 5th day embryo

Continuing the success of the previous 3 conferences, 4th IVF Updating attracted more than 100 attendees from in and out of the country. The theme for the 4th IVF Updating conference is “Timelapse and NiPGT in 5th day embryo.”

4th IVF Updating was honored to have some of the following attendees: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien – Director of Assisted Reproduction Center, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tao – President of the Hanoi Society of Assisted Reproduction, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Quan Hoang Lam – Director of MICEH* – MMU**, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh The Son – Vice Director of MICEH* – MMU**, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Ha – Vice Director of National Assisted Reproduction Center as well as other representatives from other Assisted Reproductive Center all over the nation.

In the conference, many reports paved a new path for IVF development in Vietnam. The innovative technology used in IVF field garnered attention from the attendees. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien – former Deputy Minister of Health Ministry, Director of National Assisted Reproduction Center had high regards for this event as well as the values it brings.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Đinh Tao – Chairman of the Hanoi Society of Assisted Reproduction reported about the activities of the Society in 2019 and the plan for 2020. Hopefully, with the results achieved in 2019, the Society will have some great leaps forward in order to bring IVF field in Vietnam to a new height.

Speaker Vu Dinh Chat – Lab manager at Hong Ngoc Hospital BV had 2 reports about “Timelapse system operation principles” and “Evaluation of running NiPGT in reality”. NiPGT is a non-invasive preimplantation genetic test, and instead of taking 1 cell of the embryo for pre-implantation screening, it is now gradually being replaced by taking culture or culture of blastocyst cavity or using both types. This method is applied thanks to the cfDNAs in the culture medium, these cfDNAs are a result of the necrotic process of the cells in the embryos in the cytoplasmic stream and go out into the environment. Detailed procedures for performing the epidemic and studies proving the accuracy of this test are also included in the presentation.

Embryology specialist Mai Cong Minh Tam spoke about “Evaluation of embryo morphology on the Timelapse system”. Timelapse system help doctors get photographic, video datas, result of embryo evaluation from the lab to the consultation room’s computer, from then doctors can give a detailed and clear diagnosis. This technology records images constantly from when life was formed till the development of the embryo.
