HELSINKI, Finland, September 2021. Finnish bioinformatics software company Euformatics, which develops and sells world-leading NGS interpretation and quality control tools, has signed a distribution agreement with Vietnamese Illumina distributor Biomedic.
The agreement builds on Euformatics’ recent announcement of its partnership with Indonesian reseller PT Pandu Biosains and paves the way for a growing user base of its products in Southeast Asia. The agreement covers the full omnomics Suite of products from Euformatics including the best-in-class real-time sample quality control software, omnomicsQ, as well as the comprehensive variant interpretation and reporting tool, omnomicsNGS. By adding Euformatics to its portfolio, Biomedic will be able to offer a full solution to its NGS customers from wet lab to clinical reporting.
Biomedic has a strong history of working with NGS in Vietnam, particularly in the field of oncology where it is a specialist. Its history as an Illumina distributor means it has a strong network of connections in both the public and private sectors of the territory, particularly important where the majority of business is conducted with the state. Although the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic continues to hit the country hard, there is renewed focus on improving healthcare offerings and readiness for when the worst of the pandemic has passed.
“The solutions from Euformatics for NGS data analysis and quality control are really impressive”, said Tran Manh Hien, Biomedic CEO. “Our customers are for now primarily focusing on oncology testing but we expect to see a growth in rare diseases testing in the near future as the use of NGS technologies expands. The flexibility provided by omnomicsNGS is ideal for our customers, as it allows them to grow without the need for different analysis software to cover their new testing capabilities. We are pleased to be working with Euformatics to help drive the uptake of NGS technologies in Vietnam, and to be able to offer a comprehensive solution to our customers for the whole NGS process”, he added.
Euformatics CEO, Tommi Kaasalainen, commented that “One of our goals for 2021 was to grow our network of distributor partners globally, but particularly in Southeast Asia. We are really happy to start working with Biomedic in Vietnam and are confident that the experience and expertise they have in the country will bring us both success there. We are looking forward to our partnership flourishing in the coming years and ensuring that NGS uptake continues not just in Vietnam but around the world. The future of precision medicine lies with NGS technologies, so this partnership in combination with our growing network of partners in the rest of the region puts another piece of the puzzle in place when it comes to driving that transition.”
The agreement is the latest in a long list of distribution and sales channel partner agreements that Euformatics has signed since the beginning of 2021, covering Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The company has plans for strong international growth over the coming years and intends to start that process through building lasting relationships with global distributor partners.
